[plug] Slow login

Hi

Can anyone shed light on why it takes so long to login to MDK 10?
200MHz cpu, 81MB ram, 2.6.3-7 kernel, text-mode login.

Logging in as root is almost immediate, but as a user, nearly a
minute and a half passes before I get a bash prompt.

When I had 2.6.3-15 running, the delay was cut to about 30 seconds.
