Its tough to modify your lilo config if you've just nuked the installation ;)

The boot loader resides in the first 512b of the boot disk for both
grub and lilo. Replacing the boot loader should just work(tm) . I have
done this when moving from an old Redhat installation to a newer
version successfully. Anyone had this fail?
