Isn't there a 'Photo-CD' standard?  I haven't used it, but I would guess 
that it's not the same as an ISO-9660 cd with JPG images plonked in 
random directories.  Maybe if you burned a CD in that format your DVD 
player might know how to handle it.

Something to check out, anyway.
