[plug] "Fixed" font in sarge?

Hi all,

I'm busily setting up sarge on my new laptop (I
settled on a Compaq Presario 2548) and have run into a
problem relating to fonts.

On my old (woody+backportedgnome2.2) system I always
use(d) font "fixed" in the gnome-terminal, as it was
non-anti-aliased and perfectly sized to work on. As I
use terminals extensively in my line of work I'd like
to get the same font on my new one. However...

If I run gtkfontsel, it lists a whole heap of fonts
(including Crillee, Dragonwick, etc - I installed the
freefont package from woody). The font I want is Fixed
(misc), which is listed as a two-byte font (as it is
on the old system).

If I go to the font listing in gnome-terminal, though,
it lists most of the gtkfontsel ones, but no sign of
any Fixed fonts. Interesting, it _does_ list some that
aren't in the gtkfontsel list, such as FreeMono,
FreeSans, etc.

Another thing to note is that an xterm does use the
Fixed font, so X itself seems to load it fine. Does
gnome-terminal have a separate setting somewhere only
allowing particular fonts?

What am I missing?

TIA
Andrew
