$ which ed
/bin/ed

(If you said "Bah", I suppose I should have said "Zah"!)

There do indeed seem to be a few favourites missing from /bin. And
Debian doesn't even install pax by default (it's given "optional"
priority instead of "required").

host1% ls -s /bin/ed /bin/vi /bin/ex
  43 /bin/ed   216 /bin/ex   216 /bin/vi
(ed being an old and POSIX editor, though the new-fangled ex and vi are
present in the Open Group Single UNIX Specification.)
