[plug] testing nic

hello

Ive found an old Network card, and Im trying to test it on a 486, 8Mb
ram, no hdd or cdrom. Is there a version of linux I could use to boot
from?

Mainly just need basic networking commands (ping will be enough) and NIC
drivers. (I think its a standard 10MBPS card) 

I tried debian 3 boot disks but when it comes to loading the root
floppy, it starts loading then just sits there doing nothing (or at
least it looks that way)

any sugestions
