Ive never heard of anyone changing from Mandrake to Debian in order to ease
administration before. How much easier can Mandrake get?

Especially if you're looking to 'upgrade', that is, run newer versions of
software, I think youll find Debian behind the pack in terms of packaging the
latest versions of everything.

Try it, by all means, but I think youll be disappointed given your criteria.
