A non-trivial number of people choose to use 'testing' for personal
workstations (some instead use 'unstable', or may install a copy of
'experimental' somewhere). 'stable' is the normal choice for servers
and for cautious desktop users. I judiciously install packages from
'testing' on 'stable' servers. I do have one Debian workstation and
although it mostly runs 'stable', I mix in a lot of packages from
'testing' (which are often the latest versions, for the things I use).
