Although I don't disagree with you, Onno's analogy *does* have a point:
the strength of your brand is influenced by the strength of your
advertising. That's not the end of the story, but I think part of the
message is that promoting your correct web address is often a more
appropriate course of action than methodically registering alternative
domain names in order to capture hit-and-miss clients. (This is not to
say that a multinational company should or should not attempt to
register domain names in every relevant country.) How many domains
should Coles (Australia), CentreLink, UWA and Farnell register in order
to cover the obvious bases?

www.uwa.com Doh! But I note both ecu.edu.au and cowan.edu.au exist.
