Probably around the second half of 2005, you should be seeing much
more efficient processors become available at higher performance
than at present.
IIRC, USB should easily be able to "provide" 2A @ 12V. That's enough
to run machines based on VIA's Eden processors and probably
Transmeta whatevers.
I've found that havoing batteries that don't even last a typical
working day pretty pointless anyway. You're *always* looking for
somewhere to plug them in.
