Evolution will use CUPS integration if it's built with libcups etc.
Without it, it falls back on the old '|lpr' method, where you can easily
s/lpr/kdeprint/ if you like. I don't know if there's a way to force it
to pipe to a process even when it's built with CUPS support, because
I've never had any trouble with the CUPS support; works a treat to my
(remote) CUPS server.

The first thing to check is if /etc/cups/client.conf sets the correct
cups server. You _need_ to have this set correctly for most CUPS stuff
to work; it's possible that kdeprint can work around it being wrong, but
most other things won't.
