That's been my experience. Basically, most other connection types are
faster (SATA, SCSI, FireWire 400, FireWire 800), and USB2 can be painful
for large data transfers.... but for a lot of things it's well and truly
good enough. Especially since it doesn't seem to apply any significant
penalty to seek times :-)

I find USB2 far too slow for backups, but for casual use it's fine.
