.. also, funky is ok but old might mean you need a new set of batteries.
If your run time is only five minutes then refreshing the batteries might
mean the supply will stay up over a greater number of power losses; for
a normal distribution of unholy ;-)

A lead acid starts rotting as soon as it has active electrolyte (acid) so
you shouldn't depend on a battery if it is older than say three years. Some
deep cycle brands are specified to last five. You'll find that (in most
cases) the batteries are a standard size, amp-hour rating, and terminal
design so someone like Siomar Agencies or Batteries Plus can give you a
price.
