| I think that is what it is doing.
In that case you need to have precisely one DHCP server on your
network[1]. Normally that would be your Linux box, so make sure
that's running a DHCP server. They're not normally particularly easy
to set up, although maybe Mandrake has a flashy graphical way of
getting it up and running.

[1] Though there have been threads on this list in the past about how
people have had success doing evil things multiple DHCP servers, it
can be an extraodinarily good way of messing things up in most cases,
e.g. what happened at some past PLUG workshops.
