All these wonderful suggestions and ideas and the ensuing rhetoric - reminds me of another
fantastic - award winning Linux project that came to life through the corridors of P.L.U.G.
LinmagAu - as run by Miss Kim was fantastic - it was brilliant - but when the job got too much and
Miss Kim's priorities in life needed to change - nobody else came forward to help her out with
LinmagAu.
A tremendous amount of dedicated effort and diligence was given by Miss Kim - so many people
enjoyed and benefited from her efforts - but very few helped out.
The loss of Miss Kim and LinmagAu from our midst is the loss of two valuable resources from our
community.
As for the ideas of setting up databases that need to be kept well fed and up to date (constantly),
instead of of someone saying "Why doesn't somebody else do it for me ?" perhaps it would be more
open minded and community spirited for someone to step up and say "Can I set up this database for
the benefit of all and sundry?"
Hmmmmmmm, I wonder how long the enthusiasm for the idea would last then ?
If anyone is interested in obtaining up to date Linux Publications - just go to your favourite
Newsagent and ask them to order the mags of your choice. It's so simple - the results are not
allways guaranteed - but if you try - your newsagent will try.
Personally I use the newsagency at the Kardinya Shopping centre - they carry a wide range of
computing related mags - at least five or six Linux dedicated mags - they always order extra copies
to make sure they get at least one allocated to them. They have not let me down in the last six
years.
