Probably.  I've never managed to get the nvidia drivers to work
without causing lockups.

Cheeky bugger :-P  Though you have a point, the default kernel on the
latest Debian stable release is 2.2.20 -- and that's not a typo, it
really is 2.2 not 2.4 :(

The next stable release (due Real Soon Now) will have 2.4.27 as the
default and 2.6.something (probably 9) as an option.
