I recently began using Mozilla mail for a particular account, after
years of using only mutt. The last GUI reader I used was Claris Emailer
2, so it was quite mindbending to get accustomed to a GUI reader again.
One thing I did discover, was that I was not sure quite how to set the
options to my taste in Mozilla. Nevertheless, I found that if you
right-click on a mailbox's name and choose 'Properties...", you will get
an option to 'Check this folder for new messages' under the 'General
Information' tab.
