One final followup on this. The 'mid price range' antenna came in with
the dock etc, and works beautifully, i've gone from no reception at
home to 1/2 -> 3/4 reception (equating to no props or crackles)
without even putting the antenna outside, just leaning against the
wall in the kitchen (the antenna is about 1m long)

The entire kit cost $200 - but that was without doing any price matching at all.
