I didn't start a flame war. I made about four posts to one article, all
of them polite and non-abusive, calling an assertion into question.
I got some abusive responses, and some reasoned objections, and some
support. My posts were modded into the floor within 15 minutes and
stayed there despite many positive mods, the objections were all modded
to the sky, and all of the supportive responses were modded down, too.
By a few hours later when I returned to see how things were going, /.
refused to let me post, and has done so ever since. This despite my
comments against other stories getting universally modded up in the
same time period (and afterwards).
I can't remember what the /. karma cap is, perhaps 50, but the account's
karma was up to a couple of thousand before it got capped, and had
never been below "excellent" since. The combined negative mods could
only possibly have used up 15 points at most, so I got bitchslapped
with a karma of at least 35.
A real-life analogy might be: I got mugged by a street gang, and when I
hail a policeman to complain about it, he locks me up for vagrancy.
Cheers; Leon
