Just an interjection here - the people mentioned above don't need career
advisors - they need someone to tell them where the registration office
is (and where the girls hang out).

All that a career advisor can do is ask you a few questions to see where
you THINK your interests lie, and then make recommendations based on
that. If you have no idea what course X entails, but express an interest
in it, but change your mind when you find out what it really entails, it
really is neither your fault nor the careers advisors. 

What also doesn't help is that if you took a careers field trip to the
sewage treatment plant, the people there would try to make guddling in
crap up to your armpits, an exciting and vibrant career option.

BTW - interesting thing happened there - I clicked on "Reply" NOT "Reply
