I seem to recall some version of Windows having an upper limit of 1GB
files over SMB.  The usual symptom there was that it would copy 1G of
the file and then bail out.  Samba may be "cleverly" refusing to let
you access the file cos it's too big for the SMB protocol?  Although I
don't really have any idea what I'm talking about here...
