Hi Chris

I tried Mepis (amongst several others) for a while too and found lots of
niggling problems. I "struggled" with Linux for about a year,
despairing of ever coming to terms with this new beast. Someone on this
list kept telling me to try Xandros, so eventually I did. I still use
it. I have found Xandros to be only distro that a relatively non-techo
(NON-programmer) newbie-ish type bloke can really get get going
reliably. You pays ya money and it works - right out of the box.
Xandros is designed with newbie ex-Wintendo users in mind, and is hence
the best yet lead in to Linux I've tried - and that includes Linspire.
When/if I change distros however, it won't be back to Mepis, but to
Kubuntu.

Really, give Xandros a go

Cheers
Kev

Windows isn't the answer. Windows is the question. The answer is NO!
We use and recommend Kubuntu Hoary (v5.0.4)
Linux IS user friendly - it's just selective about who its friends are
