Which hp says is 1024x768. Try running it 32 bits deep if it will let 
you. Also, can we have an lspci -v? The "i810" driver is kind of 
generic, I think that beastie has an Intel 915GM chipset, which may 
mean a different Xorg driver or settings to make it go right.
