[plug] pppd returning connection speed

I understand that I need to add some AT commands to the modem
initialising string to get pppd to return the line connection speed and
not the computer-modem connection speed (which is usually at 115200)
I'm wondering if anyone knows of the correct strings? I have a Dlink
(DFM-560E) but AFAIK chat and pppd just use generic AT commands anyway.
