Alternatively, wire a reed relay's contacts into the power lead from the 
plugpack, and coil across a parport or serial line. Then just drop the relay 
for ten seconds on boot or after a disconnect or if you can't ping the other 
end (retry after 5 minutes then every 15 minutes).
