It runs along the same vein of logic as gangster protection rackets...

Who are you being protected from? Us of course.

Hello,

I was just working on a customers Windows 98 machine a few hours ago. It
appears that some dodgy firm/software author has developed spyware that
acts like the security features in XP SP2. It comes up with a "warning"
saying that there is no anti-spyware software installed. Clicking on
this brings up a "help" section that is complete with illegitimate
Microsoft logos. There is a section under the "help" that tells the user
to download some fake (scam/greyware) anti-spyware programs.

Very charming.

regards,

Chris
