6 hours later...
As it turns out, Evo 2 stores its calendar in a reasonably standard ics format.. it's recurring 
events are not compatible with Korganiser, however a bit of "quick" python sees that converted 
reasonably accurately.

As for the contact database.. set up a temporary mail server and configure an account to use it in 
Evo. Select all in the contact screen and then "Send Contact" will generate an E-mail with the 
entire contact database as a multiple vcard file.

Used mutt on the mail server to grab the attachment from the mailbox. Now I have my contacts out, 
have not got as far as trying to shoehorn them into kontact yet as my kde install is borked. kontact 
dies, but korganiser runs..
