Hello,

I have a ITC 350-I (not sure who built it) PIII notebook with 256mb RAM
and a 40gb Hitachi HD.

Those on the off-topic list will have seen that it has an installing
installing XP and freezing on the screen that says:
"Setup is inspecting your computer's hardware configuration..."

It installs fine, however, with w2k.

I now tried to install ubuntu and kubuntu.

I get something like the following:

Press F1 for help index, or ENTER to boot (I tried linux noapic, nolapic
and pci=noacpi and the default)

Loading /install/vmlinuz.........
Loading /install/initrd.gz.............
Ready.
_ <--- flashing cursor

and the system appears to be frozen.

Any ideas?

regards,

Chris
