A big thank you to everyone who responded.
I sent the email from the dying server while onsite last night (was
there until 11:30pm, but went offline sometime before that and am only
ready replies now).
I actually got a call from Leon Brooks (after he read my email on PLUG)
and with his help and a brand new drive, most of the system is being
recovered. There is some more work to be done tomorrow and we were
onsite for a few hours today recovering data from the damaged
partition. I'll let you all know how it worked out and what I managed
to learn from Leon.
I'll keep these people's responses handy for next time I need help
onsite with Linux stuff and continue to grow my own knowledge by reading
the PLUG list.
Cheers everyone.
- Jonathan.
