was only getting about 10-15% increase
so wasnt worth it compared to possable loss
50% increase atleast would be good
But from the speeds I've seen posted (20-30's) I think im getting ok speeds
(but i have seen posted speeds in the 70's (thats just under double for me
will worry about sata later, for now my drives are all pata
But i want DEFINATLY better speeds
Know of any way to test my throughput? (ie whats the max i can be passing through?
maybe im missing some setting in bios or at my max for the board

That's probably the question. What speed improvements were you
expecting? My drives do about 30MB/s sustained transfers between each
other (slower for ones on the same channel or PATA ribbon), so when I
was getting 45-55, its nearly twice the speed. Happy with that. I
think the results are very different with say a SATA raid card, and 4x
WD Raptors 10,000rpm drives in Raid-0.
I'm not sure if you read OCAU at all, but:

The first one specifically.
