Following up on what I said. PiTiVi (http://pitivi.sourceforge.net/)
has just been added to Debian (unstable), and has ubuntu packages, as
well as a few other distros. Looking at the screen shots, it could be
what you want. Seeing as I'm accustomed to Cinelerra, I'm happy to
leave it as an exercise to you, to give us a review on PiTiVi ;-)
