Hi pluggers,
I just wanted to share with the plug community the wonderful generosity that
I have experienced from pluggers in recent times that deserves to be
archived for posterity.
First, recognition goes to BRUCE AXTENS who advertised on this list some
PIIs free to a good home from a company hardware upgrade he knew about. I
put up my hand because I wanted a few units to revamp my home terminal
server network with more thin clients (i.e.., diskless) to equip all members
of my family. These have proved excellent units for the purpose. Thanks
again, Bruce. I am also hoping to pass on one of these systems to my local
primary school after installing Ubuntu or similar.
Second, BRUCE AXTENS came to the fore again, putting me onto a friend of
his, that led to a colleague of his that led to 10 or so PIs from another
company hardware upgrade. I've yet to seal the deal and put everything in
place, but the goal of this transaction/donation is that I will setup these
PIs as diskless clients to create a terminal server PC lab for my local govt
primary school.
Third, my call to the list for someone to download and burn copies of the
five iso files of the latest stable release of K12LTSP for the above project
led to SENECTUS very quickly responding. He not only offered to do the deed
for me (since I am on dialup), but blew me away with his generosity by
burning a DVD of the files and posting it down to me while refusing to
accept any reimbursement for his trouble and expenses! Thanks again,
Senectus.
These sort of actions kinda makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside despite
this sad and dying world in which we live ;-) Good on ya' pluggers.
Regards,
Gavin Chester
