[plug] USB Suddenly not working

nforce board?
had a couple of boards where some of the usb ports failed
but the others worked (luckly I could get by without them , after swapping around)

problem. Now for some reason, the /dev/sd* entries aren't being
created!
$ ls /dev/sd*
/dev/sda /dev/sda1
(sda is my sata drive)
Then I watch the Syslog as I plugin a usb device.

But no sdc or sdc1 appear in /dev/!!!
It used to work!
$ ps aux|grep udev
root 2406 0.0 0.0 11004 428 ? S/sbin/udevd --daemon
According to mount
udev on /dev type tmpfs (rw)
$ lsmod|grep usb
usbhid 42912 0
usb_storage 81984 1
usbcore 145980 5 usbhid,usb_storage,ehci_hcd,ohci_hcd
scsi_mod 160504 4 sg,usb_storage,sd_mod,libata
I don't know what has changed recently! It has been working since the
last reboot, I'm certain!
~$ uname -a
Linux linjeni 2.6.15-23-amd64-generic #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue May 23
13:45:47 UTC 2006 x86_64 GNU/Linux
