[plug] Kooka no longer sees scanner

Dear All

I have recently installed SuSE linux 10.
Initially things seems to work.
But then the only installed (default) scanner (a Umax Astra 1200S) disappeared 
from Kooka's window, including scanner set up menu and the "preview scan" and 
"Final scan" buttons.

I reinstalled the OS (for other reasons) but the Kooka/scanner problem 
remains. 

YaST says the scanner is there and the YaST test says it works OK.

Can anyone tell me how to make Kooka see the scanner.
