You are probably right in the strict/correct usage of the terminology,
but some distros may confuse users with their own use of terminology. I
have grown used to Linux on different Redhat/Fedora flavours and they
always call daemons 'services'. That is, superuser may see a list of
'services' using a gui and restart/stop any and configure which are to
start at bootup. They _are_ daemons (eg, ntpd, etc) but called services
in this case. In Fedora the gui can be invoked from a terminal by
entering "system-config-services". Just FYI :-)
