Which menu are you referring to?  

Did you have any specific info on the service that's not running?  
Also, what is your distro version as stored in /etc/debian_version?

On that point, I've noticed that www.linuxquestions.org seems to 
show up frequently in searches like that.  I guess it makes sense 
in many cases to do targetted searches (e.g. LQ, 
http://www.google.com/linux) rather than just using the normal 
Google search box.  Remember to search your distro's bug reports 
page.  (E.g. <http://www.debian.org/Bugs/>)

PS -- Linux doesn't have a "list of services".  AFAIK, under Linux a 
service is just a generic name for a process that accepts local or 
network connections; this differs from a daemon, which in most 
cases is a process that performs its own work in the background.  
However, there is no "standard" usage for these terms.
