[plug] Recommendations for encrypted filesystems or directories?

Yes, but I don't need to have physical security at the moment, as no-one else 
has access to my computer - unless it gets stolen of course. I just want to 
protect my accounts and potentially embarrassing stuff such as personal 
letters and my feeble attempts at writing and poetry :-)

I think there would be a reasonable chance of losing the usb drive or putting 
it through the washing machine, and I'd still want an ecrypted filesystem on 
the usb drive anyway.

To get around losing it I would need to keep a current copy of my encrypted 
data on the computer as well, which sort of defeats the whole idea of 
bothering with a usb drive in the first place :-)

All I am looking for is an encrypted filesystem which can be mounted easily 
after entering a password. encfs seems to fit the bill, and looks very easy 
to set up. I'm going to give it a go.

(And thanks for your comments too, Tim - cryptoloop and dm-crypt just looked 
harder to set up, but all the reports said it works well)
