Off topic, but have you heard about the bug in Breezy (5.10) where
passwords are stored in plain text? I'll have to dig up the article for
you, I was reading it on Monday.

I'm wondering if tinkering with your display settings is as easy as
editing /etc/X11/XOrg.conf (or /etc/X11/XF86.Config, if you're using
Xfree86 as opposed to XOrg, I assume late versions of Ubuntu would all
be Xorg though).

And your root password question, from the ubuntu guide ->

>>>>>What's the root password after I install? How do I use the root
account?

The root account is disabled when you first install Ubuntu. The first
user created during the installation has administrative rights on the
system, and can run programs as root with sudo, using only their normal
user password. For example: sudo apt-get update. Additional information
and some rationale about sudo can be found in the wiki here. sudo Super
User Do has been around since 1981.

Regards

Shannon
