Hi Nigel,
I have found http://www.sqlcourse.com to be a good introduction to SQL 
in general, introducing concepts one by one with examples.
I'm working with Oracle, MySQL Ingres and very occasionally with SQL 
Server and Sybase - they are all similar in their SQL dialects up to a point
