I found it in the file /etc/X11/XF86Config . The file
/etc/X11/XF85Config-4.saved , had as the driver, "trident".

The screen is a 17" LCD screen, that I have had running at 1280x1024.
The graphics card is a Trident Microsystems Cyberblade/i1 (from running
lspci). In my research that I did, I found one web page on the Internet,
where a person said that if the wrong graphics configuration is used, it
will result in bright white lines on an LCD screen, with the lines burnt
into the screen, permanently.

Is vesa a correct driver? I thought that vesa was an architecture used
in some 80486 architectures, to rival EISA.
