What graphics chipset does it have?  If it's Intel (the only sensible
choice for a Linux laptop), then "i810switch crt on" should do the
trick.  (Installing i810switch may be required first.)

If it's Nvidia, I believe that Nvidia have a magic tool to make it all
work.

If it's ATI, I'm not sure.
