Definitely! I've been in user support for years, all on short-term
contracts. Just recently I started working for Strapper Technologies,
helping to develop a general purpose scripting language they call "Protium".
(Unfortunately it's Windows only at present.) 

I do testing, documentation and some tool development (I'm working at the
moment on a COM implementation of libiconv -- does any know if this has
already been done? There's source for a Delphi DLL and there are the
original sources ...)
