I have never had a problem with gcc and NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8774-pkg1.run
on mandriva 2006.
So can only offer basic pointers
Have you installed the kernel-source ?
Have you done updates via urpmi ? (easyurpmi.zarb.org)
The mirror I use is
ftp://mirror.pacific.net.au/MandrivaLinux/official/2006.0/i586/media/
HTH
ps Mandriva 2007 is pretty good and some of the versions have Nvidia and
ATI drivers included.
Cheers
