Erk.  Let me finish that sentence: the upgrade itself took a few runs of
`apt-get dist-upgrade`.  The first step upgrades most packages; the
second step replaces sysvinit with upstart and a bunch of other stuff.
After that it still seemed unhappy about removing the python2.4-*
packages (which have been renamed to python-* packages in edgy), so I
upgraded those by hand with `apt-get install`.
