[plug] backing up and restoring hard drive image

Unless you are really sure that the new machine/HD is identical to your
old one, .tar.bz2 via a network pipe to another machine will be a better
alternative.  For instance, if the new mchine ends up with a smaller HD,
you might be in a spot of bother otherwise!
