Makes for well over 2 terrabytes for the house - its no longer "how big
is the disk in the PC", but how much storage/aggregate cpu power does
your house have!
1 digital, one analog tuner using only the video in for foxtel, one usb
digital still to go in - going to be fussy to set up. One combined
backend/storage/frontend on the main TV, one dedicated linux frontend
being configured att (for one of the other TV's in the house), plus one
linux desktop and one wireless connected linux laptop accessing myth as
frontends when needed, plus a number of doze machines/wireless laptops
that access it via a browser and streaming. In testing I have run 3
frontends in playback, and two recordings all at the same time, and all
with different content, with no visible ill effects ... impressive!
guide is http://tvguide.org.au/, using the
http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~willu/xmltv/tv_grab_au_reg.html script - was
using the immur one up until its demise.
One of the best things Ive found about myth is to take the laptop
outside on a balmy summer evening and sit back and watch a favourite
show live or recorded - while leaving the rest of the family arguing
over what shows to watch on the main tv!
Downside is the thing is not only complicated to set up and maintain,
its too complicated for the average punter to control/understand what
they are seeing :(
