Thanks.  I've seen these, and they do not tell me how to specify the device.
I need the label on the device (automounted usb drive) so it can be 
handled automatically on multiple systems and be uniquely identified on 
the desktop, mounted or not.
mount and fstab options do not appear to be suitable.
