[plug] Problem with recognising RAM

Hello, everyone.

I have upgraded the RAM in my laptop computer, from 1GB to 2GB.

However, whilst the BIOS and Windows XP have no problem recognising the 
RAM, Debian sarge only sees 1GB of RAM, using both top and free.

Is this some shortcoming in sarge?

I was hoping to follow the instructions for upgrading sarge to etch, on 
that computer, but I am not confident of it succeeding, when sarge 
cannot see all of the RAM.

The RAM is Kingston, so should be good quality.

Any constructive ideas?
