Microsoft are rather good at encapsulating the functionality of their 
programs in reusable objects. ( was COM )
It may be possible to do a little VB scripting to load the lotus 
spreadsheets to an excel object and save them in xls format.

   Would anyone care to admit VB skills and tell us if this is possible?
