No, but I think you might be on to something.  My image file size is
way too big (should have checked first: abt 76Gb v partion size of
42Gb), and e2fsk reported compression flag errors with the file
system (no idea if it's related though).  I'll try creating the image
again without any compression and see what happens.  Good thing I've
got plenty of disk space.
